Determine your average energy usage

Two ways to calculate your peak energy usage:

1. Manual Calculation:

  • Add up the total energy usage (in kWh) for each month over the past 12 months.

  • Divide the sum by 12 to get the average monthly energy usage.

Example Calculation:

If your monthly usage for the past 12 months is: 300, 310, 320, 330, 340, 350, 360, 370, 380, 390, 400, 410 kWh

Total annual usage = 300 + 310 + 320 + ... + 410 = 4380 kWh

Average monthly usage = 4380 kWh / 12 = 365 kWh

2. Using Online Tools:

Some utility company portals provide automatic calculations and visualizations of your average usage. Look for a summary or analysis section in your online account.

Determine your peak energy usage

Three ways to find your peak energy usage:

1. Manual Identification:

  • Review each month’s energy usage data from your bills or online account.

  • Identify the month with the highest kWh usage. This is your peak energy usage month.

2. Using Online Tools:

  • Again, some utility portals may highlight the month with the highest usage automatically or provide graphs that make it easy to identify peaks.

3. Contact Your Utility Provider (if needed)

If you have difficulty accessing your usage information or need a more detailed analysis, contact your utility provider’s customer service. They can often provide detailed usage reports upon request.
